  15. Marine Resources Council The Northern Right Whale Monitoring Program consists of nearly 500 volunteers on Florida's east coast. They all work together to report right whale sightings in east central Florida to ultimately prevent ship collisions with the whales. A ship/whale collision has not been reported since the program began in 1994!

  35. Dolphin Action & Protection Group (DAPG) founded in South Africa in May, 1977 with the motto and policy that "DOLPHINS SHOULD BE FREE". The object was to take every lawful action possible to protect dolphins from exploitation and to work co-operatively with enforcement agencies to make legislation effective. In 1979 activities were extended to include the protection of whales.

  37. International Marine Mammal Project Earth Island Institute's (IMMP) works to make oceans safe for marine mammals worldwide. We strive to eliminate dolphin mortality caused by the international tuna fishing industry, to end the use of driftnets, and to stop tuna purse-seine fishers from encircling dolphins in their nets. In addition, we aim to stop the resumption of commercial whaling worldwide and to promote sustainable fishing.
  38. Save the Manatee Club Save the Manatee Club (SMC) is a nonprofit organization, established in 1981 by U.S. Senator Bob Graham and singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett so the general public could participate in conservation efforts to save endangered manatees from extinction. The SMC promotes public awareness and education; funds manatee research, rescues, and rehabilitation efforts; and lobby for the protection of manatees and their habitat.
  39. Save the Whales Campaign In 1971, the Animal Welfare Institute launched the Save the Whales Campaign. We are at the forefront of the fight against Japanese and Norwegian efforts to force a resumption of commercial whaling within the International Whaling Commission.
  40. Marine Mammal Stranding Center A private non-profit organization based in Brigantine, New Jersey. Since the Center's founding in 1978, it has responded to over 1500 calls for stranded whales, dolphins, seals, and sea turtles that washed ashore on New Jersey beaches.
